Several software components of the SAP HANA database are required in the system before the start of the update.

Necessary software components for the SAP HANA database, such as delivery units or SAP HANA plugins, must be available in the system before you start the update procedure with the Software Update Manager. The relevant software components are calculated beforehand by the SAP Maintenance Planner tool. Afterwards they are added as software package to the stack.xml configuration file in addition to the other software archives.

During the update procedure, the Software Update Manager checks in phase HDB_CHK_COMPONENTS of the Checks roadmap step if the required SAP HANA components are installed, and if they have the correct version.

The Software Update Manager stops if the components are not installed, or if their version is not sufficient. Then you are prompted in a dialog to install or update the components.
