Conversion to SAP S/4HANA using SUM: ABAP Systems on UNIX and Linux

About this document

This document deals with the SAP S/4HANA system conversion using the Software Update Manager (SUM) 2.0 SP15 including its database migration option (DMO).

Scope

This document describes the use of the Software Update Manager tool for the following scenarios:
  • Conversion of an SAP ERP system to a SAP S/4HANA on-premise system or SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition

  • Upgrade of an SAP S/4HANA system to a higher version

Furthermore it covers specifics of the database migration option of the Software Update Manager, when you want to migrate a source database, which is not SAP HANA, to SAP HANA database in the course of the conversion.

For details about the different transitions paths to SAP S/4HANA, see the appropriate SAP Note for the conversion to S/4HANA using SUM mentioned in Required SAP Notes.
