Installing or Updating SAP Host Agent
The SAP Host Agent tool is used for monitoring and controlling SAP instances and non-SAP instances, operating systems, and databases.
SAP Host Agent is present on all systems running on SAP Kernel 7.20 and higher. The software provisioning manager 1.0 installs or updates the SAP Host Agent in the course of the installation of an SAP instance based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 or higher. If the SAP Host Agent is not available on the host of the SAP instance, it will be installed. If the SAP Host Agent is already preinstalled on the host of the SAP instance, the software provisioning manager checks its version and updates it if necessary.
The tool can also be installed and upgraded independently from an SAP instance,
whether by your choice to do so, or if the automatic update has not been performed
(see SAP Note 1113545
for possible causes).
For a correct execution of the update procedure, make sure that you have installed on
all application servers instances the latest version of the SAP Host Agent. Check
the SAP Software Download Corner at http://support.sap.com/swdc
for the versions that are available to
download. For more information, such as the deprecation of lower versions, see SAP
Note 2130510
.
