Conversion to SAP S/4HANA using SUM: ABAP Systems on UNIX and Linux

Backing up the SAP HANA Database

We recommend backing up the SAP HANA database after the database migration has been completed.

Context

During the SUM procedure with DMO, the log mode Overwrite is used. This is changed back to log mode Normal after the successful database migration. We therefore recommend that you back up the SAP HANA database after the database migration is complete.

Procedure

Back up the SAP HANA database as described in section SAP HANA Database Backup and Recovery of the SAP HANA Administration Guide for SAP HANA Platform.

The guide is available on the SAP Help Portal at https://help.sap.com/viewer/p/SAP_HANA_PLATFORM. Choose tab Operate. Navigate in the guide to Start of the navigation pathAvailability and Scalability  Next navigation step  SAP HANA Database Backup and RecoveryEnd of the navigation path.

Alternatively, as of SAP HANA 2.0, you can use the SAP HANA Cockpit for this purpose. For more information, see the section Backup and Recovery in the guide SAP HANA Administration with SAP HANA Cockpit. This guide is also available on the SAP Help Portal at https://help.sap.com/viewer/p/SAP_HANA_PLATFORM.
