Checking the Database Logs
Specific downtime-optimized conversion activities (for example FIN conversion, MM-IM conversion) are executed in the shadow/temporary system during the uptime steps and in the downtime prior to phase EU_SWITCH_MIG and in the upgrade target system after phase EU_SWITCH_MIG.
Regardless of scenario, either it is anyDB or an in-place conversion, in case of issues that are caused by the database, you can find valuable information written in diagnostic files of the SAP HANA database.
To access the files, as a prerequisite, you need <SID>adm credentials to check logs at OS level or you need TRACE ADMIN or DATA ADMIN to view or delete log files in the HANA Studio.
At OS level these diagnosis files (trace and log files) are generated at the following location of each node/hostname: /usr/sap/<SID>/HDB<nn>/<hostname>/trace/DB_<TENANT_ID>.
You can also execute the shell command alias cdtrace to access these files.
In case of unusual situations, you can start the analysis with indexserver* and indexserver_alert* logs.
For more information about diagnostic files, see section Diagnosis Files of the HANA Administration Guide on the SAP Help Portal.
